This wine (initially tasted blind) presented a conundrum. My first impression leaned towards Syrah, mainly due to the prominent bell pepper notes. However, Malbec was also in consideration, though I doubted it to be Catena Zapata. Interestingly, it turned out to be just that.
The bouquet was somewhat restrained and shy at first, hinting at dark fruits, wood and vanilla. As the wine breathed, it gradually opened up, revealing a more complex and alluring character with notes of milk chocolate, liquorice, and cigars.
On the palate, the wine struggled with balance initially. The combination of low acidity, high alcohol, and strong tannin made it somewhat challenging to enjoy. However, given time and proper aeration, it transformed, becoming silkier and more nuanced. It even hinted at medicinal herbs (cola?) and chili pepper, complementing the charming milk chocolate notes.
In summary, this is a wine that demands patience and perhaps food to be truly enjoyed. While well-crafted, it seems best suited for situations where it can be aerated for several hours.

Aside from catching label displaying the history of Malbec from Catena perspective, Argentino is an expressive, fruity, but not over-jammy Malbec. Black fruits, plum, chocolate, vanilla and violets. Elegant, silky, though feels too sweet for my taste.
