Eight bottles of Gamay. Our task is to guess the region. Yet another fun activity by Vova and Mykola.
Hear ye, hear ye! Noble wine enthusiasts gather 'round for a tale of merriment! Rejoice, for in a garage not too distant, there occurred a most wondrous wine-tasting event, where the revered Gamay grape took centre stage, bestowing upon us eight diverse and delightful[fn:1] elixirs to savour.
In a grand chamber adorned with endless lines of bottles, we embarked on an epic quest through the realm of Gamay, guided by our wise and witty sommelier, who fancied himself a modern-day wine wizard. "Taste, my dear patrons, and let the velvety caress of Gamay upon your tongues transport you to a realm of unparalleled pleasure!"
As the night waned, and our goblets ran dry, we bid adieu to this remarkable wine journey, our hearts merry, our souls uplifted and our minds dizzy. Some guessed correctly, while others did not - but that's the fun of wine tasting.
In case it wasn't clear, Vova and Mykola organized a wine event solely dedicated to the Gamay grape. It was yet another enjoyable activity.
Our goal was to enjoy each and every bottle[fn:1] and guess the wines.

Tasted blind while knowing the list of wines. Guessed the bottle. A beautiful bouquet of bloody orange, red fruits, a few drops of calm horse's sweat, red flowers, hibiscus and dogwood. Delicate, sophisticated, medium-light body, juicy. It's beautiful, vibrant yet too young.

Guessed only the wider region. I failed to guess the bottle despite tasting it… ah, almost 3 years ago. In that case, I am pleased to say that the wine improved and still has the energy to keep kicking. Bubble gum, nordic berries, spices. Slightly bitter with good acidity, but IMO a bit simple.

This wine secured the 🥇 1st place in our wine tasting lineup.
Guessed the bottle. The first sniff reveals a fistful of peonies and violets (sorry, Lena), which led my thoughts to Fleurie. Add some sour cherries, strawberries, a tiny bit of barnyard, and underbrush. Sophisticated, concentrated, juicy, smooth, round and flavourful wine with good acidity. Wonderful evolution in the glass.

Guessed the bottle. I can't deny that Vini Viti Vinci has a unique style. A crazy one. A bit of a carrot (or candied mango) and unwashed beetroot (e.g. full of chornozem). Someone ate it all and puked into your open mouth. It's juicy, heavy and disgusting. It has a few feats (like expressiveness and aftertaste persistence), but I could not bear it.

This wine secured the 🥉 3rd place in our wine tasting lineup.
Guessed only the appellation. Perfumed bouquet of strawberries, earth, bitter dark chocolate and red flowers. Nice acidity, good balance. Tannin is light, which is nice. A bit feminine and beautiful wine. I enjoyed it much more during the afterparty. IMO good value and great style.

This wine secured the 🏅 4th place in our wine tasting lineup.
Guessed only the appellation. And it's funny cause I tasted this wine almost a year ago and my notes are pretty much the same. A sophisticated bouquet of Nordic berries, (volatile) horse sweet, cranberry, chocolate and caramel. Juicy, fresh, vibrant, medium-bodied and stylish. Very good balance.

This wine secured the 🏅 7th place in our wine tasting lineup.
Guessed the wine thanks to the bottle mouth (the only one with a crown cap). Is there anything good about this wine? Its juiciness and seamlessness. Everything else is awful. It smells like the underground passage on the Ploshcha Ukrainskykh Heroiv (ex Lva Tolsotoho) - boiled cabbage and boiled corn. Tired, suffocating and just unpleasant. Complex? Yes. But keep this wine for yourself. Could not finish even a glass.

This wine secured the 🥈 2nd place in our wine tasting lineup.
Guessed the wine. And I found it beautiful and refreshing, especially in contrast with the previous atrocity. A charming bouquet of cherry, white pepper, mushrooms, dill and pickled tomato. Relatively funky, fresh and elevated. Not simple, rather a challenge, but a pleasant one.
